SNEZANA

Snezana went on a holiday to the US from Bosnia after her mom passed away. It had always been her dream to come here and her dad thought the trip would help her cope with the grief she felt. But the Balkan war started while she was here, and Snezana had no choice but to stay. 

She stayed with her dad’s cousin and her dad sent money for her to go to school. The cousin said she would process her papers, but never did. She did take Snezana’s passport, though, and pulled her out of school right before graduation to work two different jobs. Snezana was told her dad had remarried and forgotten about her. She was young and brainwashed and believed everything. All the money she earned was taken from her and several times she was even taken to IVF clinics and forced to donate her eggs for money.
