“How can we get to YES?”

When it comes to fielding requests from her constituents, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava says, “Instead of always saying NO, I prefer to ask, ‘How can we get to YES?’” As the first female mayor of Miami-Dade, her goal is to effect systemic change within County Hall. Coming into office during the COVID-19 pandemic, she says, “There was a strong desire for change, and I think some political pundits underestimated my mayoral run. The time was right for a woman; for someone compassionate who would focus on the needs of the people. [Our residents] wanted someone to care about them.”
